Our story this week is "Doorknob the Rabbit and the Carnival of Bugs" written by SerWacki. Doorknob the Rabbit knows what he likes: his cozy home, his rubber duck collection, and his pet flower, Sibbly. He does not like bugs. But, when thousands arrive on his doorstep late one night, Doorknob does his best to be a gracious host. Until things get out of hand. Waaay out of hand. Before long, Doorknobœs neat and quiet home has become a rumpus room for a carnival of bugs! Can Doorknob get rid of his unwelcome six-legged guests?.
Our Every Child Ready to Read theme is Letter knowledge. Letter knowledge enables a child to recognize all the letters of the alphabet, in both capital letter and lowercase form, and to know the names and sounds of each. It is often assumed that if children can recite all the letters of the alphabet, like they do in the alphabet song, then they know their letters. However, the skill of letter knowledge involves much more than that. To know and understand letters, children must also learn to recognize them individually and out of order, as well as embedded within words.
Please join us for our story, silly songs and fun craft.
